Did you know that most rappers live in boxes yet wear Rolexes? That's what Denny "Blazin'" Hazen argues in his video "Average Homeboy," a demo that reportedly sat untouched at MTV for years until an employee found it and uploaded it to YouTube. As an artist, Hazen says, he's out to prove that rappers don't have to live hard lives they could instead live in suburbia, like him, and rap about mowing the lawn. The video is everything cringeworthy about the 1980s: Hazen sports a mullet and Ray-Bans and dances so badly you can't look away. Hazen embraced his new stardom after the video surfaced. He remade the video in 2008 with remastered audio and video effects, but it's a little too hard to tell if he's being sarcastic.
